NEEDS BOLD COLLECTIVE AND INDIVIDUAL ACTIONS
SYFC is always looking for motivated individuals to join our community. Membership is open to everyone under 35 that have a relation to Switzerland. Youth organizations can become members as well provided they share our objectives.
The membership fee is CHF 15.- for individuals and CHF 20.- for legal entities per year. We try to keep it as low as possible to maximize accessibility, but we encourage those who can afford to donate more to do so. Since SYFC is run entirely by volunteers, your donations do not cover salaries. Instead, it will help fund our activities such as educational programs for schools, political projects, and think tank workshops, as well as regiogroups' projects and our international teams, which take part in climate negotiations.
The Energy Charter Treaty (ECT) is an international agreement that protects foreign investors’ investments in the energy sector, particularly fossil fuels, for decades.
It is considered by the IPCC as a brake on the energy transition and a major obstacle to compliance with the Paris Agreement. In particular, it has a dangerous mechanism for suing states and demanding financial compensation when an ambitious climate policy is put in place, for example, and this is arbitrated in the greatest secrecy in private courts. The latest IPCC report is formal: existing installations and planned projects in fossil fuels probably already exceed the carbon budget to stay below 1.5°C, and it is therefore necessary to stop the financing of any new project in fossil fuels and redirect financial flows to low-carbon energy and technologies.
We demand Switzerland to exit this Treaty with our petition to the Federal Council.
